Turning Waste into Resources

Organic Waste Composting and Carbon Sequestration – 

Recycling green and food waste into PAS100-certified compost does more than improve soil health, it also plays a key role in carbon sequestration. This natural process locks carbon into the soil, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing soil resilience for farmers, landscapers, and gardeners. By closing the loop on organic materials, we support long-term environmental sustainability.

Coffee Ground Recycling – 

Used coffee grounds are often discarded, contributing to landfill waste and methane emissions. Our coffee recycling service diverts these grounds from landfill, transforming them into soil-enhancing pellets that improve soil health and support sustainable agriculture. Each tonne of recycled coffee grounds prevents 1,088kg of CO₂e emissions, significantly reducing environmental impact.

Compostable Packaging – 

With growing demand for alternatives to plastic, compostable packaging offers a sustainable solution. At Envar, we process certified compostable materials in our industrial composting facilities, ensuring they break down effectively. This helps businesses transition away from single-use plastics while returning valuable nutrients to the soil.

Reducing Our Carbon Footprint

Renewable Energy Integration – 

Beyond recycling, we are committed to lowering our operational carbon footprint. At our St Ives, Cambridgeshire site, we generate sustainable heat and power from biomass using virgin wood chip. Additionally, our 1,056 solar photovoltaic (PV) panels provide 359.04KW of green energy, reducing our annual electricity use by around 30% and cutting reliance on grid electricity.
