Envar has identified an opportunity for development at the Woodhurst Composting site that will bring together cutting-edge technology in a bid to make an even greater contribution towards sustainability whilst at the same time, significantly reduce odours. It will enable enhanced recovery and use of normally wasted energy through the co-location of waste processing technologies. The installation will bring investment, odour reduction, employment opportunities, site upgrades and improved carbon efficiency. Even supplying renewable bio-methane to power our own collection of vehicles and the national gas grid! The process moves waste up the waste hierarchy. This means that more is made of the materials before they are turned into a compliant and quality compost. The facility will be financed by the extra revenue created from the advanced treatment of the material. Tonnages will not increase.
The plans would see significant investment in infrastructure, which will benefit local businesses; creation of significant local employment opportunities; positive effect on the carbon credentials of the county; opportunities for local businesses to benefit from improved services and availability; reduction in odorous emissions.
