In celebration of Compost Awareness Week 2024, residents were invited to bring a bag and shovel to help themselves to some of the 10 tonnes of soil improver donated by Envar.
Alongside the East Suffolk Council team, three volunteer Master Composters attended the event, engaging with numerous residents and providing great composting advice.
Additionally, some of the compost was collected for Edible Felixstowe, a new community gardening project launched by a voluntary community interest group. This group aims to develop a network of community growing areas in the town.
Overall, the day was a resounding success, with over 200 people collecting compost throughout the event. It also provided East Suffolk Council with an excellent opportunity to thank residents for recycling and engage with them on the importance of composting and the promotion of home composting
