Composting provides a safe way to process and recycle green garden wastes such as grass, leaves, shrubs, and trees. Household food waste and supermarket waste such as fruit, vegetables, bakery, dairy, fish and meat products can also be safely composted. Envar staff have over 30 years experience in the safe composting of waste materials to develop a product that can be used as an agricultural fertiliser and soil improver.
Food and kitchen waste must be composted using a safe in-vessel composting system to comply with strict Government Animal by Products Regulations (ABPR). Envar utilises the Gicom batch tunnel composting technology. This technology is fully enclosed, it includes an air scrubber and biofilter to minimise emissions, and it is also computer controlled to guarantee a safe compost is produced. Gicom have provided this technology to over thirty plants worldwide. This track record of over 25 years is essential to demonstrate to our clients that the service Envar and Gicom provide works effectively and is compliant with all relevant Regulations.
Envar's head office in St Ives, Cambridgeshire is also recognised as an exemplar composting facility. Currently, the site is a part of the UK Government's New Technology Demonstrator Programme for waste treatment. The programme has undertaken 3 years of research and development to collate important data on composting. Our staff have also advised over eighty local authorities via study tours around the facility to help Councils understand more about organic waste treatment. This helps Councils to decide the best option for recycling and the appropriate treatment technology to use.
Envar currently composts food and green waste for a number of local authorities. Our composting service, staff and technology have been recognised as industry leaders from receiving the following accolades
